About

Meet Hanne Arends, a 29-year-old with an exceptional creative mind. Hanne's educational background is impressive, encompassing studies completed at Eindhoven's Design Academy in 2022 and Amsterdam's Gerrit Rietveld Academie in 2023. Successfully completing both of these prestigious programs simultaneously is an unprecedented achievement.

Hanne's artworks are a blend of art and design, stemming from deep emotional feelings that culminate in unique pieces crafted from various materials. She works with a diverse range of mediums, including marble, glass, textile, and ceramics.

Hanne's works are about her fascination with paradoxes. She aimed to design a piece that seemed to represent one thing while conveying the opposite. This idea grew from her realization that appearances can often be deceiving. The paradox in her work lies in the materials she chose: to represent plastic, which is cheap and easy to work with, contrasting with the construction with marble, which is precious and difficult to handle. By merging these opposing materials into a familiar design, Hanne brought to life an idea so absurd that she simply had to create it.

Freddy, a 600kg inflatable chair, became a great success and therefore Hanne started to make the Mini Marbics. Scroll down to see the miniature version of Freddy.
