With Where Were You, Hanne Arends presents a layered installation about memory, time, and the quiet force of longing. The work refers to that single moment in the past when everything seemed effortlessly right a time in which ease and belonging naturally coincided.

​

Arends explores the tension between the desire to relive that feeling and the impossibility of truly returning to it. Rather than drifting into melancholy, the work radiates softness and acceptance: an acknowledgment that what has passed finds its enduring beauty precisely in memory.

The installation consists of a monumental tapestry and a figurative sculptural character that together create a poetic dialogue between the viewer and a moment that once existed.
